According to Volunteers of America, a charity that seeks to help the nation’s most vulnerable individuals, “over 670,000 Americans are homeless, 48 million people go hungry every night, and 46.2 million Americans live in poverty.”

Reaching out to and engaging those who are homeless can help them on their journey toward self-sufficiency. However, providing housing can never be enough to end homelessness; support services should complement it.
This is the reason more people should get involved with community services that reach out to those who are in need. Every helping hand is critical to the success of these programs.
Fortunately, volunteering is scientifically known to bring a sense of joy and enhances one’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Studies have demonstrated that the more people volunteered, the merrier they are. Aiding others and getting involved in the community kindle happiness.
People who are active in community service, such as textile industry expert George Bardwil, can attest to this. The seasoned business leader, for example, supports different organizations and foundations. He is an active advocate of the Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter, a New York-based coalition of dedicated leaders, staffs, and volunteers that serve people who are chronically homeless, formerly homeless, or at-risk of being homeless. Its wide array of housing and comprehensive services are founded on the principle that the community is responsible for resolving homelessness.
Philanthropist and community servant George Bardwil is also the owner of Bardwil Industries, a manufacturer, importer, and distributor of home textiles and fine quality table linen. For more on George’s passion and advocacies, follow this Twitter account
